About Lei Lei

Lei Lei de Kirby is a movement and yoga instructor with a lifelong journey in the movement arts and over a decade of teaching experience. She holds a BA in Dance and brings an extensive professional aerial arts background to her work. Lei Lei has taught in climbing gyms, yoga studios, and athletic training spaces throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Portland, and has led workshops and teacher trainings both nationally and internationally. She spent many years as a touring instructor, teaching at festivals, retreat centers, conventions, and private events.

Her work is further informed by studies in somatic psychotherapy at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, where she deepened her understanding of the nervous system, embodiment, and mind body integration. Lei Lei has taught annually for nearly a decade at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center and has facilitated teacher trainings throughout the United States and Canada. Her teaching reflects a strong emphasis on sustainable movement, nervous system awareness, and individualized support.

Lei Lei is also a certified Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, bringing a holistic understanding of recovery, balance, and lifestyle support into her teaching. She previously owned and operated a yoga and aerial arts studio in California before relocating to the Pacific Northwest to deepen her study of the human body and complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Her classes thoughtfully blend functional strength, breathwork, and somatic awareness to support performance, recovery, injury prevention, and long-term resilience.

Ayurveda

Ayurveda, originating in India, is one of the world’s oldest traditional systems of medicine. Rooted in the rhythms of the earth and the intelligence of the elements, it offers a truly holistic approach to well-being. By honoring the connection between mind, body, emotions, spirit, and environment, Ayurveda invites us back into alignment with the natural flow of life.

As an Ayurvedic counselor, this lens deeply informs the way I teach yoga. I weave in principles of individualized balance, nervous system awareness, and seasonal rhythm so each practice supports the whole person, not just the physical body. My classes are an invitation to move in a way that is attuned, sustainable, and supportive of your unique constitution.

  • In Yoga for Climbers, we focus on the areas that tend to get overworked in climbing. Expect intentional joint prep, hip and shoulder mobility, chest opening, balance work, and mindful movement designed to support both performance and recovery. This class is built to help you move more efficiently while also giving your body the care and maintenance it needs to stay strong and resilient.

  • Cultivate strength and flexibility while building deeper body awareness. We begin with gentle opening shapes and gradually build into a steady, warming vinyasa flow that supports mobility, stability, and breath connection. The practice then downshifts into supported restorative postures, giving your nervous system space to settle. You will leave feeling warm, spacious, and more grounded in your body.

  • Move through a steady, breath-led sequence that builds strength, mobility, and fluidity. This class links postures together in a continuous flow, helping you develop heat, focus, and full-body awareness. Expect a balanced practice that challenges you while still leaving space to move with intention and ease.

  • Settle into a slow, deeply supportive practice designed to release tension and calm the nervous system. This class blends longer yin-style holds with fully supported restorative shapes to encourage deep tissue release and quiet stillness. Expect a grounding, spacious experience that helps your body unwind and your mind soften.
